My Journey

It started with a school uniform. It was mandatory and not cheap, so I learned early to look after what I had; pressing shirts, sewing blazer buttons back on, repairing holes in sweaters, and taking pride in my presentation. There was a satisfaction in making the most of what you wore.

I studied business at university, thinking I’d end up in consulting, but my real start came in a menswear store in my home country, New Zealand.

A few years later, I wanted to get closer to the heart of tailoring. I moved to London and found a role with an esteemed cloth merchant on Savile Row.

For four years, I worked alongside some of the world’s best tailors and cloth merchants, learning not just what makes great clothing, but why it endures.

What I Learnt

This journey taught me that real luxury isn’t about price tags or exclusivity; it’s about garments that are naturally excellent because of how they’re made and what they’re made from.

My time in menswear stores, working with customers of all builds, showed me that many men settle for clothing that almost fits, almost works, almost feels right.

Helping someone into a garment that fits properly, seeing how it changes the way they carry themselves, and the confidence that comes with it; that’s what good clothing means to me. Made well because it should be, worn by someone who enjoys it.

What We Want to Create

When we moved to Vienna, I wanted to build something different. Not for novelty’s sake, but in ways that matter.

So I set out to create my Vienna-based menswear brand Mr Ryder’s, built to feel approachable and welcoming. Too often, shopping for tailored clothing can feel like a trial; as if you need the right knowledge, look, or vocabulary just to walk into a tailoring studio.

Our approach is straightforward: an open conversation about what you need, a clear explanation of your options and what they mean, and a result that feels right. No pretension, no barriers; just good service and great garments.

Our goal is to create made-to-measure garments you genuinely enjoy wearing, helping you understand which pieces suit your life best, so you feel at ease in your choices. Style should be the natural result of living well, not something forced.

How We Work

Our process is collaborative and precise. We begin with a base pattern adjusted to your body, noting every detail to ensure comfort and movement. From there, we choose design elements together; fabrics, style details, and construction, until we’ve shaped a garment that reflects you.

All our made-to-measure garments are produced with ateliers in Italy, delivering exceptional construction quality. We source our selection of cloth from well-established European mills so that what you wear truly lasts. Once the garments are crafted, final fittings will take place, with any adjustments refined by our local tailors. Then you’ll receive your finished pieces.

For those not ready for a full commission yet, we offer wardrobe consultations: assessing what you already own, identifying what works, addressing fit concerns, and creating a clear plan for building a wardrobe that serves your lifestyle.

The aim is always the same: you leave not only with clothing that looks and feels right, but with the confidence of knowing why it works; and that your investment was well made.
